Class Battle, unlocked at level 18, is a competition of ship designers within a single class, the number of preferential battles is limited. You get more chips for winning higher Class Battles. Your rating determines the league of galaxies you discover. The higher your league, the better the rewards from galaxies.

You get a total of 52 free Class Battles per week. Class Battles reset each week.

Strategy

Coordinate drop chance has no barring on the class you fight in, ie supercarrier battle, vs a fighter makes no difference in chance/drop for rare Coordinates for research parts for the new Mk2 ships.

Only difference is higher class battles yield more chips per win.

Best way to farm research parts is to get at least 1 of each ship class (so you get all the free battles (min 50/week without paying credits for more), or if you dont have all the slots, the lower ones as they cost less per battle after the free are done.

Example with an Ironwing from the Corvette class: After doing the 10 free battles, the cost starts at 5000 credits and starts to increase by a cost of 5000 Credits per battle, so after 10 extra battles you are paying 50,000 a battle, then 55k, then 60k. This is easy to keep up with as beating a ship in the 1000k+ range should yield between 40-50k Credits, which would cover at least one class battle for a fighter-frigate cost.

You can use this same Strategy and use it with the Fighter, Corvette, and Frigate and after the 30 free (from these ships alone), doing an extra 30 battles (10 each) you would only have spent 275k per class  which is 825,000 total.  That is pretty easy to keep up with in the 1000-3000 rank range just by doing the win one lose one with a heavy fighter (no downtime), few wins and you covered the cost of another class battle.

You can do some extras in the battleship-carrier, but just note they are not as Credit effective as they start shooting up in cost (supercarrier starts at 80k, after 10 matches you are paying 800,000 a match, which is equal to 16 wins at 50,000 credits a win (its usually 44-50 at that rank))

Keep in mind you can only keep 12 reactor charges (recharge 1/hour) and class battles reset every week, which gives you about 20 a day you can do without spending Cel to recharge if they were all Alpha zones and cost 1.  Get a few epsilons or iotas and that clears out your charges quickly.
