The lightning is a fighter that introduces the player to a whole lot of new things. This is the first ship thag can be upgraded. It is also the first one to be able to mount a warp drive and the first one to cost money and need time to repair after a defeat. It is a fast ship and is useful in class battles but the inability to mount 2x2 modules hinders its potential there.
